We’re hiring: Environmental Management Specialist

We are looking for an Environmental Management Specialist (full time) to join our dynamic team and help us provide innovative and professional solutions to meet our clients needs.  

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and coordinate environmental management of a variety of construction projects.

  • Effectively communicate with construction personnel to ensure adherence to environmental requirements, and provide mitigation recommendations as needed.

  • Prepare and submit relevant permit applications.

  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and contractors.

  • Conduct environmental assessments.

  • Prepare environmental management plans, mitigation plans and reclamation plans.

  • Conduct and oversee pre-construction bird nest surveys, fish salvages and wildlife sweeps.

  • Environmental monitoring of construction projects including monitoring of instream works, water quality sampling, monitoring of erosion and sediment control measures and preparing monitoring reports.

  • Management of small crews of junior – intermediate staff in environmental monitoring roles.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 8 years of combined experience in environmental management and construction environmental monitoring.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and willing to mentor/manage junior staff.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulators, and co-workers.

  • ·Proficient knowledge of standard mitigation measures, best management practices, and provincial and federal regulatory requirements.

  • Skilled in maintenance and operation of sampling and field equipment and vehicles.

  • Must be willing to work in the field extended hours and/or travel when required.

Assets:

  • Relevant professional designation in BC (e.g., RPBio, RBTech, P.Ag, AScT) or eligibility within 6 months of employment

  • CPESC or CPESC-IT Designation

  • Experience developing proposals and budgets for environmental management and monitoring projects.

  • Experience in GIS.

Compensation range: $75,000– $92,000 salary equivalent from hourly, depending on experience and expertise.
